For something to appeal to all ages, visit one of the city parks with modern playground equipment and picnic areas. City, Old Post Road, Crawford, James School, Pleasant View, Russellville Soccer Complex, Shiloh, Harmon or Washburn Parks are all designed with the youth in mind including a newly renovated skateboard park.

If a leisurely stroll through nature is your pace, visit Bona Dea trail system, located on 186 acres of protected wetland habitat. Six miles of trails wind through trees and alongside swamp. With a watchful eye, visitors will see local wildlife and a possible sighting of the local alligator that claims Bona Dea as its home! Also including notable trails are Confederate Mother’s Memorial Park, Dike View Park, Pleasant View Park, the Russellville Soccer Complex and Veteran’s Memorial Park.

For a little competition, City, Old Post Road, and Shiloah parks are your destination for basketball and tennis, with James School and Crawford both having basketball. For professional level 18-hole disc golf, play the Pleasant View and Old Post Road park courses.

The city also maintains two swimming facilities and a splash park if you need to cool off after a day outdoors: Hickey Pool for outdoor, Russellville Aquatic Center for indoor and City Park for splashing. If casting a line is on your mind, there are boat ramps at Washburn and Illinois Bayou parks, and shaded bank fishing at Pleasant View park.
